Sunflower

Recipes using sunflower (seeds)

/ˈsʌnflaʊə/

A tall North American plant of the daisy family, with very large golden-rayed flowers. Sunflowers are cultivated for their edible seeds, which are an important source of oil for cooking and margarine.

Sunflower seeds are a staple in our house.  They are an easy source of giving my children protein and fibre.  There are many different varieties of sunflower seeds but I’ve read that they are all good for you. They are high in polyunsaturated (the “good”) fats and contain phytosterols which lower cholesterol according to some studies.
