I LOVE mangoes! They are one of the most beautifully smelling and tasting fruits which work well raw or ripe.
They are super healthy too – rich in vitamin E and some believe them to aphrodisiac. I’m not so sure about that one but the vitamin E does mean they help to regulate sex hormones.
They are full of antioxidants which have been found to protect against colon, breast, leukemia and prostate cancers.
Mangoes are rich in fibre, pectin and vitamin C which help to lower cholesterol levels.
As well as vitamin E, mangoes have vitamin A and flavonoids like beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, and beta-cryptoxanthin. Vitamin A promotes good eyesight and prevents night blindness and dry eyes.
I could go on and on because there’s so much goodness in these little sunset gems. I’ll end on it’s benefits as a skin cleanser though. It cleans clogged pores and gets rid of spots. How brilliant is that?

I love mangoes in salsa to go with fish tacos. And I totally agree that the year-round mangoes are pants. Much better to wait for the Indian ones – they smell like an exotic perfume, and taste even better. Yum!
Fish tacos eh? Great idea. Must try that one
