I was suffering with a cough and a cold at the beginning of this week and the only thing that helps me get rid of that fast is SPICE! The combination of heat and prickle from the spices just helps clear the nostrils and soothe my throat. I always make Dhal when I don’t feel well. I suppose it’s the Indian equivalent of Jewish Chicken Soup! I have this rich protein and vitamin C laden meal with Rye Bread. It carries the spices well and fills me up quickly.
I’m pleased to say it took me only two days to recover from the sniffles. Just in time to make an afternoon tea yesterday for the lovely India Rose’s Naming Ceremony. To be true to her namesake, I made Rose Macaroons, Chocolate and Rose Cupcakes and Rose Profiteroles – piled up into a mini croquembouche! Just perfect with a glass of bubbly!
